The History of Caltime
 |
Caltime was started way back in 1979 by husband and wife team Ted and Glenys Blake. Working from their garage and dining room table at their home in Pinner they created an Advent Calendar in the shape of a Grandfather clock which they sold into Debenhams, their first major customer. The Clock helped to inspire the company name and Caltime (Calendar Time) was born. The following year, drawing from their back ground in the greeting card industry the couple went on to create 3 more Advents, and so the company grew..... Ted's garage wasn't that big, so the company bought a warehouse in Little Staughton, Bedfordshire where they manufactured and hand finished the Advent Calendars to a high quality. Eventually the dining room table was also replaced and Caltime moved into offices in Greenford, and later in 1987 to our current home in Ruislip. By 1990 Caltime had over 100 advent desigs in it's catalogue along with Party Banners and Christmas Card Holders, and it was time to move once again. Staying in the Bedfordshire area Caltime moved to Sandy, to a 25,000 sq ft factory where they continued to create great products. Caltime is still a family run business and boasts great knowledge of the industry, largly due to it's loyal and knowledgable staff, some of whom have been with us for over 25 years! Today Caltime's range consists of over 150 different products including our "Click!" and new "Plus" ranges and we also provide "own" label and bespoke items. Everything is made here in the UK at our Factory in Sandy, and over 20% is exported world wide. Ted and Glenys are very proud of their "little" company of which they boast is - "Probably" the widest selection of Advent Calendars and Christmas Card Holders available anywhere! |
